TUNNEL LINING

Interior Lining
The facing of tunnel walls must meet stringent requirements. Only the most durable materials produced by modern manufacturing techniques can resist the aggressive environment of vehicular tunnels, and the frequent cleaning they require.

GLASAL T is preferred as a tunnel lining because of its many advantages, which include non-combustibility, attractive colour range, freedom from corrosion, ease of maintenance and non-toxicity in the event of fire. GLASAL T also exhibits excellent optical properties, which allow perfect diffusion of light and completely eliminate the risk of glare or dazzle. Economical lighting is also possible because the bright colours reflect up to 87% of lighting rays. GLASAL T's hard, smooth surface withstands mechanical brushing and high-pressure washing, allowing maximum advantage to be obtained from its reflective properties.

In most tunnelling applications, extremely rough surfaces must be transformed into inexpensive smooth, highly functional linings, which are easy to maintain.
GLASAL T meets, or exceeds, all these criteria, producing a long-lasting finish for all highway tunnels, metro stations, cross passages, walkways and utility rooms.

Fixing Systems

Rock blasted tunnel surfaces are usually very irregular. However, Euro Panels Overseas has the experience and skill required to develop fixing systems to overcome any difficulties, and produce a finished tunnel lining with a smooth, long-lasting, and easy-to-clean surface.
Where construction is by cut and cover, using diaphragm walling or contiguous piling techniques, the concrete surface can be very rough and irregular. For this scenario, special fixing systems have been developed to obtain a smooth secondary tunnel lining using GLASAL T panels. These can be shaped on site to match the curvature of the tunnel walls.

If the internal surface of the tunnel is smooth, by way of construction using on-site poured concrete or prefabricated submersed concrete elements, the supporting framework required for GLASAL T panels is minimal and low cost.
